Morality and Spirituality in The Book Bhagavad Gita Essay
In the book Bhagavad Gita, Krishna teaches Arjuna how to reach the highest stage of spirituality, and ultimately the divine God. Krishna gives Arjuna a clear road map to follow so he can reach this goal. Yoga is the main tool to obtain spirituality and it takes a lot of hard work and true determination to do so. The main part of reaching spirituality is to depart this world and sense objects, and build strong morals. Upon giving up worldly desire, one cannot but seek the Devine and by seeking God, one will become spiritual. In the book The Last Days of Socrates, Plato describes Socrates reaction to the courtââ¬â¢s decision of condemning him to death and how he spent his last few days awaiting death. Throughout the entire court and whileâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Although some of the lessons in The Bhagavad Gita are different from what Socrates believed in, they ultimately preach the same principles. The principles that Socrates held dear and described in The Last Days of Socra tes can be used to reach the spirituality described by Krishna in The Bhagavad Gita. Socrates learned through the oracle of Apollo that he is the wisest man, and so he started to cross-examine other scholars to find a wiser man than him and prove the oracle wrong, but he fails every time. He explains his actions as ââ¬Å"in obedience to the divine commandâ⬠(Plato 46). Socrates claims that all the actions he did were to obey the mission God had appointed to him. Socrates believed in his mission and duty in life, and was brought to death because of that. In the Gita, Krishna tells Arjuna to love him, worship him, and obey the God so he can reach the ultimate joy. ââ¬Å"Know what your duty is / and do it without hesitationâ⬠(Bhagavad Gita 51). There is an obvious connection between what Krishna was preaching and what Socrates was doing. Socrates was completing his duties. In The Bhagavad Gita, Krishna emphasizes on doing actions and being detached of the fruits of actions and tells Arjuna that: ââ¬Å"the wise man lets go of all / results, whether good or bad, / and is focused on the action aloneâ⬠(Bhagavad Gita 55). Designing and Manufacturing Hawkesbury Cabinet Pty Ltd
Question: Discuss about the Designing and Manufacturing for Hawkesbury Cabinet Pty Ltd. Answer: Introduction Hawkesbury Cabinet Pty Ltd was founded in Mulgrave, Sydney in 2008. It started with designing and manufacturing the custom-built kitchen cabinetry to serve the needs of growing Chinese community in Hawkesbury. Hawkesbury Cabinet provides very high quality cabinets having top quality raw material by utilizing the skills of its skilled craftsmen. As the company evolved over a period of time, its reputation increases and company began to receive more and more orders. Gradually, Hawkesbury also got the attention of Builders who generally requires large number of standard kitchen cabinets. Hawkesbury signed contracts for making standard kitchen cabinets also. The problem started when the Hawkesbury started receiving large number of orders from builders line of kitchens as the factory layout is not designed for manufacturing large number of standard kitchen cabinets. Also, the client builders are more stringent about their requirements, which put extra pressure on the Hawkesbury cabinet. T he margin was also less in manufacturing the standard kitchen cabinets. Overall, the huge flow of orders has made the entire factory to work at its capacity and it becomes increasingly difficult for Hawkesbury cabinet to manage the incoming orders, which result in increase in raw material, work in process and finished goods inventory (Tjahjono et al., 2013). Increase in inventory is putting pressure on the balance sheet of the company and also giving rise to numerous other issues. All this can also effect the reputation of the Hawkesbury along with the quality of finished goods delivered to the customers provided these issues are not resolved on time. It is very important for the company to introspect and understand its set of problems before taking any actions in a hurry. Such phases are part of all the organizations when they are increasing their sales (Lambert Schwieterman, 2012). The objective of this essay is to discuss about the current production systems and processes used b y the organizations and how their existing systems were challenged when organization started receive large orders from builders for making Standard kitchen cabinet and the impact of all these issues on the financials of the company. Analysis The organization was started at a small scale with an aim to supply customized kitchen cabinets. Customized products require process layouts and the factory is setup in a process layout manner having shapers and routes in one section, saws and cutting tables in another section and lathes machines and other less used machines in another section. This layout is well designed for managing customized orders however it will not work efficiently for standard products. However, now the organization is receiving large number of orders for standard kitchen cabinets, which is not supported efficiently by existing layout. Also Currently, Hawkesbury is not scheduling the various orders intelligently leading to increase in raw material, work in process and finished goods inventory. They are using the profit margins as the only criteria, which is impacting the lead-time of the standard cabinets. For instance, Consider that standard order is about to complete but Hawkesbury receives one urgent order for manufacturing of customized kitchen cabinetry. As per their scheduling algorithm, the preference will be given to customized kitchen cabinetry because of higher profit margins. The problem with this approach is that work in process inventory will continue to rise and the organization has to bear the holding costs and other associated costs of the increasing inventory (Brigham, Ecker, Pesch, Schmidt, Weglarz, 2013). Already, Hawkesbury has rented one warehouse to keep the increase inventories. There is no proper mechanism/software to promise the delivery dates to the customers Delivery dates should be aligned with the scheduling algorithm (Dresner et al., 2012). If the organization is keep scheduling random jobs based on profit margins, the delivery of the standard cabinets will be delayed. There can be a risk to the credibility and reputation of the company. All the kitchen cabinets are processed on same set of machines by same skilled craftsmen so as to ensure the quality of cabinets. The margins in the standard items are less because they do not require to be processed by the skills craftsmen, as they are standard ones. If the Hawkesbury are using its skilled labor for processing standard kitchen cabinets, then it is not utilizing the full potential of its skilled craftsmen. Standard cabinets can be processed fully by less skilled labor also. Thus, the effect of orders from builders has led to under utilization of the staff which may cause the turnover among the employees (Mitchell Zatrick, 2015). There are also no formal roles and responsibilities and founding members of the organization takes managerial position and also comfortable in their new roles. But as the organizations is growing at a next level, there will be more and more responsibilities will come and voluntarily addressing the additional responsibility is not advisable (Munoz-Bullon, BUeno Vos-Saz, 2015). The effect of the move to manufacture the standard kitchen cabinets can have the negative impact on the financials of the organizations provided these issues remain unsolved, the probability of which is very less. There will be pressure on balance sheet as more money is invested in inventory and is not converted into sales while getting spent into buying additional raw material. This all will cause shortage of working capital (Brigham Ehrhardt, 2013). The situation will further be worsened before it improves. However, once all these issues will be resolved, balance sheet will improve a lot. Overall, the move to manufacture standard kitchen will be a very good decision in a long term. This will help the organization to increase its revenue by increasing its market share and targeting both standard and custom kitchen cabinets. Conclusion This essay discussed about the existing systems and processes of Hawkesbury and the key issues arises when they started receiving huge orders for standard kitchen cabinets. Those issues have affected the balance sheet of the company. Every organization faces these issues when they are growing aggressively; there is nothing uncommon about it. Successful startup, which is now established brands, also faced these issues once (Wasserman, 2012). And once Hawkesbury overcomes these issues, it will be seeing a huge growth. This essay does not focused on solving the issues but it focused deeply on the issues and how one issue is leading to another issue. It is important that the organization should take a balanced approach while dealing with both types of cabinets. The company should use the operations management principle in way that the optimization between both the designs could be achieved. The increased demand of standard cabinets should definitely be an integral part of the strategy. H owever, it should not mean that the company use compromise the customized cabinet segments. Is Google Making Us Stupid - Has Google Outsourced The Dictionary?
Is Google Making Us Stupid - Has Google Outsourced The Dictionary? If you've ever wondered why you kept missing that one or two question on the quiz, Google has decided to make us stupid. Yes, Google has decided to make us stupid...but not for much longer.Back in May Google announced a new product they wanted to introduce called Google Keyboard for Chrome. This was a cool new interface that allowed users to type on the internet like they would with their cell phone. But as the name suggests, it is a keyboard. It seems like Google is making us stupid and is trying to get us to accept that fact. I for one do not think so. Even though they are doing this they are not just limited to keyboards. They are implementing technologies that will make us dumb and even more stupid. In particular, they are making us stupid by making all of our activity dumb. That means all of our behavior, 'their' behavior, is now to be listed to a keyword that Google can use to search for information. Now you may ask , what is this all about? Is Google thinking that if they can make us dumb, they can sell us? Well, I don't think so, but that does not mean they should ignore this practice. They have begun to take advantage of this public's ignorance to the point that Google is collecting all sorts of private information about us.That means they can now conduct reverse image searches on your porn website if you surf the internet to look at pornography. They also could do a background check on you if you've ever gone through the TSA's security for an airport. They can do searches on your credit card history for purchases made online. So if you're tired of being embarrassed by Google, all you have to do is tell Google that you want to be made stupid. Please consider all this and think on it. Since Google already has a good reputation for doing things like storing information on their servers, it would only make sense that they would give us stupid. Please consider all this. Sincerely,

The Duchess Of Malfi By John Webster an Example of the Topic Literature Essays by
The Duchess Of Malfi By John Webster The Duchess of Malfi is a work of genius that has placed John Webster firmly among the best playwrights in literature. It is a tragedy in the tradition of the Elizabethan revenge play but it considerably modifies and enriches that tradition. The central motif is revenge, but the revenge is not taken as a sacred duty but out of selfishness and vindictiveness. The motif for revenge is dishonorable and our sympathies tend to be towards the victim of the revenge rather than with the avengers. Webster was successful in making the revengers, the Cardinal and Duke Ferdinand, look repugnant and detestable, while the traditional revenger was always capable to rouse the admiration and sympathy of the audience. Here we admire the innocence and fortitude of the Duchess, and in proportion hate the two brothers as monsters of inequity. This gives the uniqueness and originality to the play. Need essay sample on "The Duchess Of Malfi By John Webster" topic? We will write a custom essay sample specifically for you Proceed Like most of the other playwrights of his age, Webster too did not invent a story but found the same from a real sequel that was later historied by William Painter in his Palace of Pleasure (1567). The facts of the historical Duchess are as follows: in 1490 she married when she was twelve, and was widowed at the age of twenty. After Antonio Bolonga became her major-domo in 1504, she fell in love with him and secretly married him for which only her maid was a witness. This wedlock was revealed only after the birth of the first child and the arrival of the second caused rumors. When her brothers watched, Antonio took the children leaving her behind pregnant with a third. She was deserted by her household when she confessed about her marriage and after banishment, the Duchess, her children and her maid was taken to Malfi by her brothers and was never heard of again. University Students Often Tell EssayLab professionals: I'm not in the mood to write my paper. But I want to spend time with my girlfriend Professional writers suggest: College Essay Helper Best Website To Buy College Papers College Essay Writing Essays Online In characterization, The Duchess of Malfi is an immense advance over other contemporary plays. The Duchess, the central figure, is a stoical figure who bears misfortune with calm resignation and fortitude. Opposed to her and devout to destroy her are the three Machiavellian figures Duke Ferdinand, the Cardinal and Bosola. But the characters cannot be divided so easily into good or bad. They are beyond the implications of such a division as they are very intricate and puzzlingly complex. The wicked characters have some good in them. That is why Ferdinand goes mad seeing the face of his dead sister; even Bosola is moved and decides to avenge her death. The Duchess is one of the finest creations in Elizabethan drama; no other female character outside Shakespeare surpasses her in vividness and subtlety. Her persecution transforms and her despair renders her personality a lofty and stoic touch. The scene of the play is laid in Italy. The setting to the play is provided by contemporary Italian court life. It is the Italianate Hell. The courts are those of the small independent states into which Italy was divided at the time. They are dominated by dukes and cardinals who are surrounded by their dependents, mistresses and spies. This world when combined with ambition, revenge and lust, motivate deeds of sensational violence. These are usually elaborately planned by those who perpetrate them. Disguise may give the murderer access to his prey; poison may be administered so unobtrusively that none suspects a crime within; the murderer may commence operations by subjecting his victim to an ordeal designed to break the spirit; or he may even try to engineer the victims eternal damnation. There is absolutely no element of surprise in the characters being occasionally haunted, or believed to be haunted, by the ghosts of the perished ones, and that some characters collapse into utter madness. Webster, in this play, shows forth a world that is replete with luxuriousness, deceit, ruthlessness, passion, viciousness and subtleness. Functional imagery adds to the gloomy atmosphere of the play. The most important image that dominates the play can be identified as prison or trap that indicates confinement. In hiring Bosola to spy on their sister, the Cardinal and Ferdinand are setting a trap; and as men trap wild creatures in order to kill them, so the Duchess, if trapped will be killed. The Duchess secret marriage is literally confined within the walls of her chamber, and in this sense as Cardinal says: The marriage night Is the entrance to some prison. The marriage symbolizes a prison in another sense too, for the Duchess, movements and emotions are restricted as those of a prisoner. Physical corruption is suggested by diseases such as leprosy and consumption. There are frequent references to poison and some to magic and witchcraft. Animal imagery is frequent in the play, and is an expression of the degeneration and corruption of man. It suggests the element of bestiality in man. The element of a true story will be enhanced by catchy dialogues. Websters dialogue is undoubtedly dramatic and appropriate. It is light and discontinuous, rapid or deliberate, as the situation demands. The light and the discontinuous line and the occasional, momentary regularity create a style wholly appropriate to a drama of interplay between passion and conscious thought, contrasts of appearance and truth, and inter-relationships of characters who often try to live only for themselves. Webster wished to show a fragmentary and disordered world and at the same time to suggest that there is a fixed order at the back of things. The dramatic dialogue both orders and disorders continuity and disruption. The story of the Duchess of Malfi, the main plot, and the story of Julia, the sub-plot, is skillfully interlinked to form a single whole. First, the same characters figure in the two stories and, second, there are strong parallelisms and contrasts between the sexual behaviors of the two women mentioned. Besides the indomitable skill in plot construction, the dramatist has succeeded in contriving a number of scenes and situations whose effectiveness on the stage can never be questioned. Undoubtedly the play represents the age in which it was born which characterized the publics disillusionment with the human condition, the loss of confidence in mans aspirations and the haunting dread of death.
